Position: Librarian, children’s focus. Full-time, regularly scheduled 40 hours/week

Description:  As a librarian you will provide excellent customer service while helping patrons at the desk, while roving, or on the telephone. Develop, create, prepare, schedule, promote, and implement regular weekly educational, cultural, or library-oriented programs and events for all ages, particularly children. Conduct outreach with Liberty Township community organizations, agencies, day care centers, and schools. Desk and roving responsibilities include providing computer assistance, reading recommendations, and giving instruction on how to use the self-check machines, online card catalog, the Internet, print station, and library databases. Branch responsibilities when management is unavailable such as crisis management, set alarm, and general go-to person. Explain library policies and procedures.

Qualifications:  An accredited Masters of Library Science degree (MLS), or being in the process of obtaining an MLS, is required. Must have a valid driver’s license, be insurable, and have reliable transportation for travel to off-site programs and events. The ability to present and deliver exciting, lively, and animated story times, programs, and events is required. Must have prior experience developing a variety of successful children’s and family programs. Must have excellent knowledge of literature. Must have prior experience using an ILS and on-line database searching. Excellent customer service and strong interpersonal skills are required as we are a customer oriented and team based library. Sound professional judgment; good research skills; the ability to multi-task; be detail oriented, reliable, and professional; and excellent verbal and written skills are necessary. Must be able to hear, read (including cursive), write, speak, and understand English effectively, as well as have sufficient dexterity, mobility, and visual acuity to meet job requirements. Movements such as grasping, pushing, pulling, and reaching are needed. The ability to lift, carry books and other materials, move loaded book crates that could weigh up to 50 pounds, and move loaded book carts that could weigh up to 200 pounds is needed. Regular and predictable attendance is required.

Salary:  Rate starts at $16.46 with MLS, more depending on experience. Rate starts at $12.96 without MLS, more depending on experience.

Position: Library Specialist, Information/Reference. Full-time, 40 hours per week

Description:

Fill-in for co-workers programs and events as necessary. Answer information and reference questions using print and electronic resources.  Desk and roving responsibilities include providing computer assistance, reading recommendations, and giving instruction on how to use the self-check machines, online card catalog, the Internet, print station, e-reader tablets, and library databases.  Explain library policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. A college degree is highly desired. Must have excellent customer service, problem solving, and communication skills. Must have prior experience developing a variety of successful programs and events. Need prior experience working with all age groups as well as having a strong knowledge of literature, activities, and programs appropriate for adults. Must have excellent experience using Word, Excel, the Internet, e-reader tablets, and library databases. Will need to be able to give instruction on the online card catalog, the Internet, databases, and library equipment. Must be organized and efficient. Must be able to effectively hear, read (including cursive), write, speak, and understand English as well as sufficient dexterity and visual acuity to meet the job requirements. Bending, lifting, sitting, crouching, stooping, and other similar movements are required. Moving book carts that could weigh up to 200 pounds is needed. Regular and predictable physical attendance is required.

Hours:
Includes days, 2 evenings per week, and alternating weekends 

Salary:
Starts at $12.96 per hour, more depending on experience

Position: Public Services Director, Full-time
This is an exempt position and not eligible for overtime.  

Summary:
Due to expansion and growth, we have an exciting opening for a customer-focused Public Services Director. As the principal customer services leader, you will ensure superior customer service to the public, and leadership to public services staff that includes information reference, youth services, circulation, and outreach. Using independent judgment, discretion, and initiative, you will oversee the public services operations, programs, and services to meet present and anticipated community needs.  

Responsibilities:
As a community oriented person, you will oversee the public service teams while encouraging creative and innovative programming, efficient scheduling, and creative problem solving while ensuring an effective and systematic approach to providing services. As a forward thinking leader, you will collaboratively develop, establish, and revise goals, objectives, policy and procedures relating to the public service operations of the library system, as well as coordinate high level strategic planning for public services. Your supervisory duties will include directing, motivating, training, coaching, evaluating, and making employment related recommendations for professional and non-professional staff. You will need to develop an awareness of community needs, represent and promote the library, and maintain co-operative efforts with the Friends of the Library as applicable, civic groups, and other community organizations to meet those community needs. To ensure coordination of services, you’ll work with other departments within the library system. To keep current with technology and be aware of new trends, you’ll attend appropriate workshops, seminars and conferences, and participate in professional groups.  

Qualifications:
· A master’s degree in library science from an ALA accredited institution is highly desired. A related graduate level degree (MPA or    MBA) with significant public library experience will be considered. A minimum of five years prior direct management/supervisory experience in a library is required, preferably within public services.

· Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license and be insurable, or have the ability to travel to branches and events as needed for position      requirements.

· Demonstrated leadership, administrative, budgetary, training, process management practices, and customer relations experience is needed.

· Must be able to effectively collaborate, be organized, efficient, creative, set clear objectives, and be future oriented.

· A demonstrated ability to manage, oversee, and monitor branch public service programming ideas and suggestions while articulating a vision of possibilities and their success is needed.

· Must have the ability to effectively present in a variety of informal and formal settings one-on-one, to peers, and groups in a friendly, tactful, and courteous manner.  

Other requirements include: Must be able to hear, read (including cursive), write, speak, and understand English effectively. Must have sufficient dexterity and visual acuity to meet job requirements. Need to be able to grasp, push, pull, reach and other similar movements. Need to be able to move materials that could weigh up to 50 pounds, and may move loaded book carts/and/or bins that could weigh up to 200 pounds. Regular and predictable attendance is required.  

Salary:
The pay range starts at $2,400 bi-weekly ($62,400 annualized). The rate would be higher depending on your experience. Position:  Library Associate, part-time, 20 hours per week

Description:

Desk and roving responsibilities include providing directional information, reader’s advisory, issue library cards, collect fines & fees, accept US passport applications, and give instruction on how to use the online card catalog, the Internet, print station, e-reader tablets, library databases and the self-check machine. There is an opportunity to develop, create, schedule, and implement several monthly educational, cultural, or library-oriented programs for patrons of all ages.  Explain library policies and procedures. Other duties as requested or assigned.


Qualifications:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. College degree desired. Must provide evidence of US citizenship for passport duties. Must have excellent customer service, problem solving, and communication skills. Must have excellent experience using Word, Excel, the Internet, e-reader tablets, and library databases. Must have excellent knowledge of literature that appeals to patrons of all ages. Experience in developing and implementing exciting, creative, and engaging programs and events for all ages is highly desired. Will need to be able to give instruction on the online card catalog, the Internet, databases, self-check machine, and other library equipment. Must be organized and efficient. The ability to move full book carts or crates that could weigh up to 200 pounds is needed. Must have manual dexterity sufficient to operate library equipment. Must be able to hear, read (including cursive), write, speak, and understand English effectively. Must have sufficient visual acuity to distinguish letters, words, and numbers. Must have regular and predictable attendance as required.


Hours:

Regularly scheduled 20 hours per week, on a 4-week rotation of:

August – October 2018 Week 1 & 3: Monday 9-4, Tuesday 10-7, Thursday 2-7, Saturday 10-5 Week 2 & 4: Monday 9-4, Tuesday 10-7, Thursday 2-7, Friday 9-4

November 2018 and thereafter Week 1 & 3: Monday 9-1, Wednesday 10-7, Thursday 10-7 Week 2 & 4: Monday 9-1, Thursday 10-7, Saturday 8-5

Salary:

Starts at $9.60 per hour, more depending on experience

Position:  Library Associate - Circulation, part-time, 20 hours per week

Description: 
Provide excellent customer service while helping patrons at the customer service desk. Desk responsibilities include helping with the check-out and check-in machines, issuing library cards, collecting overdue fines and lost material costs, helping with the reserve and hold materials, assisting customers with the copier and explaining policies and procedures to customers. Other duties include emptying the bookdrop, checking in materials, inspecting and sorting returned materials, and other duties as requested or assigned.

Qualifications: 
Must have high school diploma or equivalent. Must have excellent customer service, communication skills, and math skills. Experience using computers is needed, cash register and credit machine is needed. Must be able to multi-task, prioritize, and handle confidential information. Must be able to hear, read (including cursive), write, speak, and understand English effectively. Must have visual acuity to distinguish letters, words, and numbers, and manual dexterity sufficient to operate library equipment. Bending, lifting, pushing, and other similar movements is required.  Carrying full book crates, and moving fully loaded book carts that could weigh up to 200 pounds is required. 

Salary: 
Starts at $9.60 per hour, more depending on experience
