Branch Manager
Full-time. This is an exempt position and not eligible for overtime.  

Summary:
Due to a new branch location opening soon, we have an exciting opening for a community-minded branch manager to lead our Liberty Center branch. Your professional, supervisory, and leadership skills will assist the team in ensuring that patrons have a pleasant and positive library experience. Your active participation in library programs, events, and community activities will enhance our community involvement and will maintain our working relationship with schools, the community, and local organizations.  

Responsibilities:
As a creative, enthusiastic, and community oriented person, you will oversee, coordinate, monitor, and participate in the reference, youth services, circulation, overdues, volunteers, outreach, and facilities of this branch. Your supervisory duties would include scheduling, overseeing programs and events, staff development, training, performance evaluations, and interviewing, as well as making recommendations with regard to branch budget, salary, discipline, hiring, promotions, transfers, and terminations. You’ll work with other branch managers to ensure coordination of system services. As part of branch outreach, you will establish and maintain relationships with community organizations and leaders, Liberty Township schools, Liberty Center mall, daycares, and preschools promoting library services and developing community partnerships.  

Qualifications:
Progressively responsible prior library experience with excellent working knowledge of all library services. Prior experience with educational programming for youth audiences is required. Bachelor’s degree required. MLS degree from ALA accredited school highly desired. Minimum 3 years supervisory experience and program coordination experience desired. A strong service ethic, customer service skills, presentation skills, training skills, leadership, and communication skills are essential. Need a high level of independent judgment to effectively resolve problems including the handling of emergencies, determining and deciding upon procedures to be implemented, determine staff equipment needs, set priorities, and maintain standards. Must be able to multi-task, prioritize, collaborate, effectively problem solve, be organized, and efficient. Must be able to interpret and respond quickly to new or changed responsibilities and/or situations. Excellent computer skills including troubleshooting, using the ILS, MS Office, library databases, graphics programs, Google Drive, and the Internet required. Excellent interpersonal, communication, budgeting, and analytical skills are needed. Must be able to hear, read (including cursive), write, speak, and understand English effectively. Must have sufficient dexterity and visual acuity to meet job requirements. Bending, lifting, sitting, carrying book crates, and moving book carts weighing up to 75 pounds is required. Regular and predictable physical attendance is required.  

Salary:
Starts at $1,851.20 bi-weekly ($48,131 annualized), more depending on experience.  This is an exempt position.

LIBRARY ON WHEELS
 

Library Associate, substitute.
Work on an as needed basis, but no more than 24 hours per week on the bookmobile and at other MidPointe branch locations.

Description: 
Have a new adventure while providing excellent customer service on the bookmobile going to various sites and helping patrons once parked, or going to outreach locations. Answer information and reference questions using print and electronic resources. Desk type responsibilities include checking materials in and out, issuing library cards, assist patrons with the selection and location of books, collecting overdue fines and lost material costs, helping patrons with library equipment and explaining policies and procedures. Assist staff with outreach-type programs and events. Explain library policies and procedures. Sort, shelve, shelf read, and straighten materials. Opening and closing duties. Other duties as requested or assigned. Could accept work shifts at other MidPointe library locations. 

Qualifications: 
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have excellent knowledge of children’s, young adult, and adult literature. Must have excellent customer service, communication skills, problem solving skills, and math skills. Prior experience using computers, a cash register, and credit card machine is needed. Must be able to multi-task, prioritize, and handle confidential information. Must be able to quickly and favorably respond to new or changed responsibilities and/or situations. Must be organized and efficient. Must be able to regularly lift and carry up to 30 pounds of library materials up and down steps, as well as move loaded book crates that could weigh approximately 50 pounds, and move loaded book carts that could weigh up to 75 pounds on and off vehicle and inside library building. Must have manual dexterity sufficient to operate library equipment. Must have sufficient visual acuity to distinguish letters, words, and numbers. 

Hours: 
As needed (no more than 24 hours per week)

Library Specialist, Information/Reference 
Full-time, 40 hours per week  

Description:
Provide excellent customer service while helping patrons at the information/reference desk, while roving, or on the telephone. Develop, create, prepare, schedule, promote, and implement regular weekly educational, cultural, or library-oriented programs and events for adults. Fill-in for co-workers programs and events as necessary. Answer information and reference questions using print and electronic resources.  Desk and roving responsibilities include providing computer assistance, reading recommendations, and giving instruction on how to use the self-check machines, online card catalog, the Internet, print station, e-reader tablets, and library databases.  Explain library policies and procedures.  

Qualifications:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. A college degree is highly desired. Must have excellent customer service, problem solving, and communication skills. Must have prior experience developing a variety of successful programs and events. Need prior experience working with all age groups as well as having a strong knowledge of literature, activities, and programs appropriate for adults. Must have excellent experience using Word, Excel, the Internet, e-reader tablets, and library databases. Will need to be able to give instruction on the online card catalog, the Internet, databases, and library equipment. Must be organized and efficient. Must be able to effectively hear, read (including cursive), write, speak, and understand English as well as sufficient dexterity and visual acuity to meet the job requirements. Bending, lifting, sitting, crouching, stooping, and other similar movements are required. Moving book carts that could weigh up to 75 pounds is needed. Regular and predictable physical attendance is required.

Must have excellent experience using Word, Excel, and the Internet. Knowledge of library databases highly desired. Will need to be able to give instruction on the online card catalog, the Internet, databases, e-readers, and library equipment. Cash register and credit card machine experience highly desired. The ability to work in a team based atmosphere is needed. Must be organized and efficient. Must be able to effectively hear, read, write, speak, and understand English, as well as have sufficient dexterity and visual acuity to meet the job requirements. Sitting, standing, bending, lifting, crouching, stooping, and other similar movements are required. The ability to move book carts that could weigh up to 75 pounds is needed. Library Associate, Maintenance
Full-time, 40 hours per week

Description:
Provide excellent customer service by ensuring that library buildings, grounds, and equipment are clean, safe, and ready for customer and staff use.  Travel to other branches, as needed. Routinely monitor, and when directed, perform preventative or repair work on library facilities, buildings, grounds, and related equipment. Perform janitorial and landscaping duties. May assist vendors and contractors regarding maintenance related matters. Other duties as requested or assigned.

Qualifications:
Must have high school diploma or equivalent. Must have valid driver’s license and be insurable on the library’s policy. Must have good working knowledge of power cleaning and polishing tools, cleaning solutions, snow removal equipment, minor repair equipment, and use in a safe, efficient, and effective manner. Must have good computer and math skills. Good verbal and written communication skills are needed. Must be able to follow direction and work within deadlines to complete projects and assignments. Must be able to work in areas that may contain dust or other possible allergens. Must be able to sit, stand, push, pull, bend, stoop, crouch, crawl, kneel, reach, climb, lift objects up to 75 pounds and move objects up to that weigh up to 150 pounds. Must have regular and predictable physical attendance as required.

Other duties as requested or assigned.

Qualifications: 
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. College degree desired. Must provide evidence of US citizenship for passport duties. Must have excellent customer service, problem solving, and communication skills. Must have excellent experience using Word, Excel, the Internet, e-reader tablets, and library databases. Must have excellent knowledge of literature that appeals to patrons of all ages. Experience in developing and implementing exciting, creative, and engaging programs and events for all ages is highly desired. Will need to be able to give instruction on the online card catalog, the Internet, databases, self-check machine, and other library equipment. Must be organized and efficient. Bending, lifting, sitting, crouching, stooping, and the ability to move full book carts or crates that could weigh up to 75 pounds is needed. Hours: 
Both openings have a regularly scheduled 20 hours per week, on a 4-week rotation of: JOB 1: Week 1 & 3: Monday 3:30-7, Tuesday 2-7, Thursday 2-7, Saturday 10-5. Week 2 & 4: Monday 2-7, Tuesday 2-7, Thursday 2-7, Friday 9-2. JOB 2: Week 1 & 3: Monday 9-2, Wednesday 2-7, Thursday 9-2, Friday 2-7. Week 2 & 4: Monday 9-2, Wednesday 3:30-7, Thursday 9-2, Saturday 10-5.

Position: 
Library Associate - Circulation, part-time, 20 hours per week

Description: 
Provide excellent customer service while helping patrons at the customer service desk. Desk responsibilities include helping with the check-out and check-in machines, issuing library cards, collecting overdue fines and lost material costs, helping with the reserve and hold materials, assisting customers with the copier and explaining policies and procedures to customers. Other duties include emptying the bookdrop, checking in materials, inspecting and sorting returned materials, and other duties as requested or assigned.

Qualifications: 

Must have high school diploma or equivalent. Must have excellent customer service, communication skills, and math skills. Experience distinguish letters, words, and numbers, and manual dexterity sufficient to operate library equipment. Standing, bending, lifting, sitting, crouching, pushing, and other similar movements is required.  Carrying full book crates, and moving fully loaded book carts that could weigh up to 75 pounds is required.

Position:  Library Aide, part time, 3 Openings!

Description: 
Provide excellent customer service. Shelve library materials in the proper location according to the Dewey Decimal system or alphabetically.  Maintain shelves by shifting materials.  Evaluate the condition of materials. Check materials in using the automated sorting machine. Reach into bins and place items on carts. Sort book drop materials. Pull discards, holds, and weed materials from lists.  Answer directional questions. Clerical duties and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:  Must be at least 16 years of age. Prior computer experience is necessary. Must be able to use library equipment such as computers and printers. Must be able to use conveyor belt machinery. Must be able to file by the Dewey Decimal System and alphabetically. Must have attention to detail, be accurate, organized, able to prioritize, multi-task, and have good time management skills. Must be able to work independently and with others.  Must be able to reach into bins to retrieve items, and move carts or bins that could weigh up to 250 pounds. Must be able to work in areas that may contain dust or other possible allergens. Must be able to hear, read (including cursive), write, speak, and understand English effectively as well as have sufficient dexterity and visual acuity to meet the job requirements. Must have regular and predictable physical attendance.
