LIBERTY CENTER 

Position:  Library Specialist, adult focus; part-time Join the Liberty team and use your creativity to develop and present weekly library-oriented programs, events, and outreach for all ages, particularly for adults.

Description:
Provide excellent customer service demonstrating a professional, courteous, and respectful attitude towards all external and internal customers
Prepare, coordinate, create, schedule, and implement several regular weekly educational, cultural or library-oriented programs that engage all ages, particularly for adults
Conduct outreach with Liberty Township community organizations, such as agencies and schools
Desk responsibilities such as answering reference questions, troubleshooting the Internet, readers’ advisory, accepting US passport applications, and giving instruction on how to use the ILS, databases, the Internet, and other library equipment
Greet customers, assisting them with the selection and locating of library materials and other general informationResolve customer complaints in an effective, pleasant and timely manner
Perform assigned off-desk responsibilities

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. College degree highly desired   
Must have a valid driver’s license, be insurable, and have reliable transportation for travel such as outreach, and off-site programs   
Must provide evidence of US citizenship due to passport duties    
Prior customer service experience required 
Must have excellent knowledge of all genres of literature, particularly literature for adults      
Must have experience creating and presenting engaging educational/cultural events and programs for adults  
Must interact with customers in a consistently friendly, courteous, and tactful manner 
Able to multi-task, prioritize, handle confidential information, work independently and work in teams 
Must have excellent communication skills, computer skills, interpersonal skills, problem solving, presentation/training skills, be reliable, detail oriented, and professional  
Must be able to read (including cursive), write, speak and understand English
Must be able to hear, speak, and see, or use prosthetic that will enable assurance of position requirements
Must be able to grasp, push, pull, reach, and other similar movements
Must have manual dexterity sufficient to operate library equipment and perform general typing and keyboard operation or use prosthetic that will enable assurance of position requirement
Must have sufficient visual acuity to distinguish letters, words, and numbers as needed for the position
Must be able to work in areas that may contain dust or other possible allergens
Must be able to lift, carry books and other materials, carry loaded book crates that could weigh up to 50 pounds, and move loaded book carts that could weigh up to 200 pounds

Hours: 24 hours per week including days and evenings with rotating weekends (Saturday and Sunday), between Tuesday - Saturday 10:00 - 7:00, Sunday 1:00 - 5:00.

LIBRARY ON WHEELS
 

Position:
Library Specialist-Library On Wheels, Full-time

Description: 
Develop, create, and present several weekly programs or story times.
Drive the bookmobile to various sites and help patrons once parked.
Identify routes, drive, maneuver, park, monitor, and secure the bookmobile.
Desk-type responsibilities include checking materials in and out, issuing library cards, assist patrons with the selection and location of books, collecting overdue fines and lost material costs, helping patrons with library equipment and explaining policies and procedures.
Sort, shelve, shelf read, and straighten materials.
Opening and closing duties. Other duties as requested or assigned.

Qualifications:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have a valid drivers' license and be insurable on the library's insurance
Must have excellent knowledge of children’s, young adult, and adult literature
Must have excellent customer service, communication skills, problem solving skills, and math skills. Prior experience using computers, a cash register, and credit card machine is needed
Must be able to multi-task, prioritize, work independently, and handle confidential information. Must be able to quickly and favorably respond to new or changed responsibilities and/or situations.
Must be organized and efficient.
Must be able to regularly lift and carry up to 30 pounds of library materials up and down steps, as well as move loaded book crates that could weigh approximately 50 pounds, and move loaded book carts that could weigh up to 200 pounds on and off vehicle and inside library building
Must have manual dexterity sufficient to operate library equipment.
Must have sufficient visual acuity to distinguish letters, words, and numbers. Must be able to read (including cursive), write and understand English effectively. Must have regular and predictable attendance

Salary:  $13.21 per hour, more depending on experience  

Hours: 40 hours per week, generally Monday - Friday, may include some evenings, weekends, or holiday's

Position:  Library Aide Job D1

Description:
•    Provide excellent customer service.
•    Shelve library materials in the proper location according to the Dewey Decimal system or alphabetically.
•    Maintain shelves by shifting materials.
•    Evaluate the condition of materials.
•    Check materials in using the automated sorting machine.
•    Sort book drop materials
.•   Using lists, pull items off shelves and file onto carts.
•    Answer directional questions.
•    Clerical duties and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
:•   Must be at least 16 years of age.
•    Prior computer experience is necessary. Must be able to use library equipment such as computers and printers.
•    Must be able to use conveyor belt machinery.
•    Must be able to file by the Dewey Decimal System and alphabetically.
•    Must have attention to detail, be accurate, organized, able to prioritize, multi-task, and have good time management skills.
•    Must be able to retrieve items out of deep bins and place items on carts.
•    Must be able to work independently and with others.
•    The ability to move full book carts or crates that could weigh up to 200 pounds is needed.
•    Must have manual dexterity sufficient to operate library equipment.
•    Must have sufficient visual acuity to distinguish letters, words, and numbers.
•    Must be able to work in areas that may contain dust or other possible allergens.
•    Must be able to hear, read (including cursive), write, speak, and understand English effectively as well as have sufficient dexterity and visual acuity to meet the job requirements.
•    Must have regular and predictable physical attendance.

: 10 hours per week ·        
Week One: Thursday 8-11, Friday 8-11, Saturday 8-12. ·               
Week Two: Monday 8-12, Tuesday 8-11, Wednesday 8-11.   ·

Salary:  $8.55 per hour, pay is more depending on experience.
