MidPointe Library Opens Liberty Township Branch on November 2

MidPointe Library will officially open its fifth full-service branch Friday, November 2, at Liberty Center, Liberty Township’s premier shopping, dining and entertainment complex.
The public is invited to attend the 11 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new site on the second floor of Liberty Center’s Foundry building between Cincinnati Children’s Discovery Center and Dillards department store. Activities will include a special “Storytime” for children, face painting, balloon art, giveaways, library tours and more.
“For a long time we’ve wanted to open a branch in Liberty Township,” said Travis Bautz, MidPointe Library Director. “We conducted a survey to gauge the community’s desire for library services and were thrilled when the response came back overwhelmingly positive.”
“So today we’re extremely happy to announce the date of our official opening and the opportunity to bring services, materials and popular programming for all ages to the citizens of Liberty Township and the public in general.” Bautz and Allison Knight, manager of the new branch, expressed appreciation to Liberty Center and the Cincinnati Children’s Discovery Center for partnering with MidPointe since 2015 to present weekly storytimes for children.
“Now we can look forward to being a full-time neighbor to our Discovery Center friends and other establishments in Liberty Center,” Knight said.
The branch will be open Tuesdays-Saturdays 10-7 and Sundays 1-5. It will be closed on Mondays. Measuring 3,681 square feet, MidPointe Liberty Center will be a full-service branch, housing approximately 5,000 items available for check-out and offering WiFi, public computers with Internet access, the ability to reserve items for checkout and more. The capability to issue passports will be available next year.
“Our staff is especially excited about expanding our popular educational and entertainment programming for all ages,” Knight added.
Convenience for patrons was a key factor in the choice of Liberty Center as a site for a new branch, the library officials said.  “Liberty Center is easy to get to, has a huge variety of shopping and entertainment venues and convenient parking just to mention a few of the pluses,” Bautz explained. “So it just makes sense for us to be where our patrons are.”
Another convenience that should appeal to patrons: a drop-off box for returning library materials.  Having a branch in Liberty Township also means that its residents will no longer have to drive to other locations to return materials, Bautz added.
Like Liberty Township, the MidPointe Library system has experienced much growth in the past few years.
“In addition to locations in Middletown and West Chester, we’ve added a branch in Monroe, built a new, larger building in Trenton and restored our ‘Library On Wheels,’ formerly known as the Bookmobile, for underserved locations in our service area,” Bautz said.
The library director said that visits by MidPointe’s Library On Wheels Bookmobile to Liberty Township will continue as scheduled.
