Brother SE1900

Used to embroider small basic designs and monograms on non-stretchy materials. Uses special embroidery thread only. This machine offers a 5x7’’ embroidery field, an automatic needle-threader, 7 fonts, 138 pre-made designs, and a USB port to import designs using .pes, .phc, or .dst formats. Thread and backing provided. Monogram a t-shirt or embroider a pattern onto a handkerchief.

What is embroidery?
An embroidery machine uses specialized thread to create images, such as monograms or other decorative designs, by stitching onto fabric (shirts, beach towels, etc.). Fonts and designs are available through the machine’s design library. Items can be given designs with embroidery machines including customized garments and towels to patches that can be applied to other items. 

Machine use is free and time limited. Specialized embroidery thread and backing are provided for at no cost.  Fabric materials must be compatible with the machine—see Approved Materials List

How much does it cost?
There is no cost to use the embroidery machine. You must bring in your own machine-compatible fabric materials in order to use the embroidery machine (Approved Materials List). As the machine requires a specific type of thread, a library of over 40 unique colors in the correct thread type will be available to use at no cost.

Does this machine require training?  
Before you can use this machine, you must: 
1. Have a MidPointe Library card.
2. Have completed and submitted an Innovation Pointe waiver. Waivers can be completed in the space during normal hours. Minors MUST have a parent or guardian sign in-person. 
3. Register for, attend, and complete an Embroidery Beginner Badging class. You can register for a badging class by speaking with an Innovation Pointe Staff Member. Must be 10 years of age.

How do I plan a successful project?
Fabric choice: Non-stretchy, medium-weight fabrics work best. Light beach towels may work with stabilizer (provided by space). Fabric that is too thick or tough can result in bending or breaking the embroidery machine. See our Approved Materials List. It is at staff discretion what may be used in the machine.

What materials can I use in the machine?
Non-stretchy, medium-weight fabrics that fit in one of the embroidery hoops. 

How long do I have to use the machine?
Patrons have 1 hour on the machine; for longer projects, patrons can reserve time.

How do I reserve the embroidery machine?  
To reserve equipment for a longer or more complicated project, you must schedule a consultation with Innovation Pointe staff. Once staff has approved the project, they will schedule your reservation.   
Reservation times are: Wednesday 5:00-9:00 PM, Saturday 9:00 AM-1:00 PM, Sunday 1:00-5:00 PM.   
Patrons are limited to one reservation per week.   

What should I bring?
Materials: Non-stretchy, medium-weight fabrics on which you intend to embroider a small area. Material must fit in an embroidery hoop designed for the machine.
