Starting July 1, MidPointe’s new circulation policy regarding patron fees will go into effect. Those owing $5.00 and less in fees can continue to check out materials, regardless of the reason for the fee. Patrons owing $5.01 and more in fees cannot check out materials until their fees are paid to a point of $5.00 or less.
As in the past, a collection agency fee does not need to be paid in full to restore borrowing privileges.
MidPointe has been fine free for over five years, so all past fines have been removed from patron accounts. Any current fees on patron accounts are specifically from lost materials or costs incurred by the Library when working with a collection agency to recover unreturned materials. This policy change is an effort to ensure public funds are protected, as fees are directly tied to expended tax dollars. We appreciate your help in protecting public funds and keeping the Library’s collection strong.
