Midpointe Announces Plan For Needed Growth In Trenton

An exciting change is coming to the MidPointe Library System, as their Trenton location will be moving to a larger, more modern space in the near future.

A Trenton branch was first established in 1975, and the Library has called 21 East State Street home since 1992. The new location is at 714 Terrace Court, but the Library also purchased a lot at 110 Edgewood Drive, and the new location's public entrance will be situated on that space. The building was purchased for $785,000 and the adjacent lot was purchased for $115,000, both amounts at less than the appraisal value of the properties.

MidPointe staff and patrons were well aware the Trenton location needed to grow: the space has long been too limited, parking was scarce and the need for amenities such as community meeting space and increased computer access became more obvious every day.

After years of accessing potential sites, MidPointe was fortunate enough to find a location that offered everything needed to create a vibrant new Library space.

Trenton Branch Manager Diane Current is eager to unveil the new location to patrons. "I am so excited about our upcoming move. We are going to be able to offer the community things I had only dreamed we could offer. The possibilities are endless."

Trenton patron Jennifer Weiland and her children attend many Library events and shares Current's enthusiasm. "The move will be great for the Library. The weekly storytime gets a bit crowded due to its popularity and it will definitely benefit from the additional space."

City Manager John J. Jones said that the Council, Administration and citizens are getting a well deserved Library with ample space, programs and qualified staff.

"We are thrilled that MidPointe will continue with their long-term Library presence in our community. The Library is such an important component for offering quality of life benefits to residents. MidPointe has been a pleasure to work with during this process and we look forward to our continued relationship with them," said Jones.

An opening date for the new location has not yet been set, as MidPointe is currently in discussions with architects, but the project is expected to continue quickly once those decisions are concluded.
